The Tiber River's AR Project

Let’s talk about TeTrovo

TeTrovo is a comprehensive AR project aimed at revitalizing Rome's historic Tiber River by inviting people to appreciate the river’s banks. This project is inspired by the city's rich heritage and the legendary tales about the river in specific points (the bridges, the island, etc.).

This AR experience will have modern design principles with timeless symbolism. TeTrovo will create a visual narrative that celebrates:

Navigate in Rome’s history

This experience combines historical exploration with interactive challenges, including questions and riddles, which require knowledge gained from earlier in the journey.

Follow the river flows

Our project is an AR adventure where you explore the history of river banks. When you follow our interactive paths, you will be able to solve riddles and answer questions as you go, after you scan the QR codes in our posters.

Remember to start from Riddle #1 located under the St. Angelo Bridge!

Where life begins...

The history of the Tiber River was fundamental to the economic and cultural growth of Rome. Let's go over the main important parts.

753 BC

1557

1876

1923

The ancient hydronym of the river was Albula, traditionally referring to the light color of its blonde waters. Another ancient name for the Tiber was Rumon, of Etruscan origin, linked by many to the name of Rome. According to tradition, the current name derives from the Latin king Tiberinus Silvius, who drowned there. According to Virgil, however, the Etruscans already called it Thybris.

The Tiber, since its birth, has been the soul of Rome, and the fact that the city owes its very existence to it is already described in the first scene of the foundation legend, with Romulus and Remus in the basket who, stranded under the ficus ruminalis, suck the sugary drippings of the fruits while waiting for a real feeding.
